Across Europe people are standing up for what is right and just. We are calling on our European leaders to break free from Trump and Putin’s gas and to double down on a fair, green and secure future.

1. Stop the ongoing build-out of fossil gas and LNG infrastructure.

2. Prioritise scaling up energy saving and accelerate the building of cheap, renewable and homegrown energy.

3. Start a rapid and fair gas phase-out.

Trump and his billionaire friends are going rogue. They are taking Putin’s side against Europe and Ukraine. They are openly talking about invading and occupying countries. They are doing what they know best: exploiting dangerous fossil fuels to make themselves billions at our expense, or as they call it, drill baby drill.

Europe is hooked on gas. To get their fix, European leaders make dirty deals with authoritarians: first PutinGas and now TrumpGas. This is why Trump can threaten us with tariffs and has our leaders scrambling. Just yesterday he demanded that the EU buy 350 billion dollars worth TrumpGas to relieve his tariffs, and European politicians are falling for it. But if our leaders allow Europe to be bullied into fossil fuel expansion, we will be locked into decades of climate destruction, human rights violations and environmental devastation — and the whims of power-hungry authoritarians.

We are living in the wildest dreams of a handful of billionaires. They are ready to see the world burn so long as their profits keep increasing. But we can break free from fossil fuels by using our energy resources more efficiently and building a safe, renewable energy system. We can free ourselves from billionaires hoarding the earth’s resources, and secure cheap energy for everyone. We can free ourselves from the ‘everyone for themselves’ mindset and build a thriving society where we care for each other.
